Our 4-Year Journey with the Cardano Blockchain
Year 1: The Big Bang
Our adventure began with the spark of an idea and the inspiration from Charles Hoskinson, who reminded us of the boundless possibilities of the blockchain. We set out to create a thriving community around Cardano and Project Catalyst, with a mission to onboard new users and establish community hubs worldwide.
Year 2: Building the Foundation
We rolled up our sleeves and got to work. By the end of the second year, we had successfully onboarded over 1,100 new community members, each with their own Cardano wallet. The Yoroi Wallet became our recommended tool for beginners. We also focused on education, translating landing pages and resources into 65 languages, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their native tongue, could join our journey.
Year 3: Expanding Horizons
Our third year saw the proliferation of new hubs. We aimed for 60 active online community language hubs, each with at least four members. Although launching new hubs was slower than expected, our persistence paid off. We managed to get 223 expressions of interest in creating new hubs. Our efforts weren't just about numbers; we created a detailed pathway for individuals, businesses, and developers, offering hundreds of pages of guidance and support.
Year 4: Innovation and Integration
Innovation was the theme of our fourth year. We embraced the MetaVerse, launching "CardanoVerse" to offer a virtual space for education, entertainment, and business. We started to set up our project as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), a crucial step to support thousands of hubs in the future. Our "Join Us" campaign continued to resonate, bringing in thousands of new members and preparing them to apply for funding in Project Catalyst Fund 10 and 11.
Key Achievements and Learnings
Throughout these years, we've learned invaluable lessons. We’ve created systems to attract and retain new community members, established practical utilities for Cardano, and built a body of evidence for the effectiveness of community hubs. We also recognized the importance of incentives, introducing governance tokens and NFTs to motivate and engage our community.
Looking Ahead
Our journey is far from over. We're committed to continuing our work, applying for additional funding, and developing open-source tools and resources. We aim to attract more businesses, host educational events, and expand our reach in the MetaVerse. Our goal is clear: to build a self-sustaining, interconnected ecosystem that leverages the full potential of the Cardano blockchain.
